I am almost fully booked with appointments next week. I hope you have all managed to get fitted back in. I thought I would take this opportunity to answer some common questions:
Q: How long will my lashes last?
A: The answer to this isn’t as easy as it sounds. Everyones lashes go through a 6-8 week cycle. At the end of the cycle the lash falls out. I am attaching 1 extension (or 1 handmade fan) to 1 natural lash. The glue I use will normally hold until the lash falls out, so the extensions last as long as is possible on your lashes. As each lash is at a different stage of it’s cycle they all fall out at different times, therefore after a couple of weeks you may start to see gaps. This is normal. Most of my clients come to me every 2-3 weeks for top-ups to keep their lashes looking full, but some come 4 weeks or more (If it is over 4 weeks I charge a full set).
Q: Can I wear mascara with my extensions?
A: I once asked this (years ago before I trained), and the answer I got was why would you want to? This is a very valid question, if you are someone who has always worn mascara it can be very difficult not to. If you have Classic Semi-Permanent Lash Extensions and you want to make them a bit more dramatic for a night out, you can use Flirties Mascara on the tips of the extensions (I retail this for £12) – but stay away from the base where the glue is. If you have Russian Volume Semi-Permanent Lash Extensions the answer is NO! Mascara will close up your fans and make them look clumpy and like you have used a fibre-lash mascara.
Q: Why do I need to clean my lashes?
A: You need to clean your extensions (with baby shampoo and a nose pore brush) to stop a build up of make-up, sleep, bacteria etc. It is quite difficult to keep extensions clean and you want to make sure you don’t end up with an infection like Blepharitis. I stock a lash cleanser called Chrissanthie with is fab for cleaning your extensions. I have it on sale for £20 at the moment.
Q: Can I remove my lashes with baby oil?
A: NO! I tell you not to use oily products on your lashes as it can affect retention, but oil does not break down the glue like my remover does. Please don’t buy remover and try it yourself either – it stings like crazy if you get it in your eyes. I offer FREE removal. It doesn’t matter if you are a client of mine or not I will remove lashes for free. I tell everyone that lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes, which they don’t if they are applied and removed correctly. I want to stop the bad press they get, as they don’t deserve it!
